TESTIMONIALS

"I recently had the pleasure of having Portia visiting me after undergoing major surgery. I felt very vulnerable on returning home and was worried about doing too much versus not enough. I also had issues with sleep, diet and getting comfortable and some questions regarding pain relief and how best to manage it. Portia was amazing. Within minutes of her arrival, I felt so much better. She was incredibly reassuring, supportive and empathetic. Portia gave me clear practical advice as well as giving me the confidence to make the most of my rehabilitation. She has a wonderful manner and has a way of making you feel better almost instantly. I would recommend her services to anyone. She made a huge difference to my recovery period and I was very grateful for her support and professionalism."

"Portia was my Postop nurse following a total hip replacement in December 2022. Portia was in contact with me straight after the operation, checking in on how I was feeling, how the operation went. Once I’d been discharged, Portia visited me at home and we talked through my post up plan, the physio requirements, and she also checked my blood pressure, vital signs, and general mobility. I was fairly anxious, having recently been diagnosed with a minor heart issue, and I have to say that Portia not only provided high quality nursing care but also reassurance and kindness, which contributed to a much quicker recovery. Recovering after any operation isn’t just physical but it’s also mental and having someone so knowledgeable and available to speak to and visit me was the thing that made all the difference in improving the speed of my recovery. I had my first hip replaced three years ago and can honestly say that Portia’s input for this second hip greatly helped. So, ...

"Re Portia Gibson, Post-Op Nurse Recently I underwent surgery and had concerns in regards to the way I was progressing. Not only that, I was somewhat emotionally depressed about my wellbeing. I made contact with my consultant and within a few hours Portia telephone me that she understood I wanted to see someone. That wasn't an issue she said and I will visit you at home. I explained that I was at work and to cut a long story short she arrived promptly at my office. I can only say that she was like a "breath of fresh air" she immediately put my mind at rest and her professionalism was second to none. I was amazed that the action points she took note of were handled immediately. I would willingly recommend her services. I decided to contact Portia whom I found to be a lovely lady and now recovering am glad to be able to act on her good advice."

"Having recently moved into a flat in a new development and going to have a hernia operation, I decided to seek the advice of a qualified nurse. I was concerned about whether I would be capable of opening and closing the (what for me) are heavy fire doors. I decided to contact Portia whom I found to be a lovely lady and now recovering am glad to be able to act on her good advice."

"Dear Portia On behalf of Pat and myself we thank you for visiting Pat to check up on her progress since her hip operation by Mr Shah on the 8th November 2022. Your visit following up immediately from a long chat over the phone the day before, was very welcomed and helpful. It is wonderful to have a check-up by a senior nurse at home. Your professional and caring concern, as well as answering our questions, reassured her (and me) that everything was fine. We appreciate Mr Shah's initiative in engaging you to do this post operative visit. A brilliant idea that we hope other surgeons may adopt, perhaps also preoperatively as well as post operatively. With huge thanks and our very best wishes"

"In November 2022 I had a partial knee replacement. Shortly after I was discharged, I was contacted by Portia. She asked me all about how I was recovering. She was very caring and thorough. A few days later I contacted her as I was struggling with what I thought were pulled muscles. She instantly became very concerned. After arranging to have a video call, she watched my breathing. She was very concerned and sent me to A&E as she was very worried I had DVT. She called ahead so they knew I was coming. I spent a lot of time there and I had many tests. I heard a knock on the door and there was Portia. She had travelled to A&E to see me and check I was ok. Portia was on a day off! She stayed with me while I had a CT scan. She is so amiable and a delight to talk to. Thankfully I was cleared of any clots. I was overwhelmed by her kindness and how much she cared. "

"I worked for many years in Worthing Hospital alongside Portia Gibson. She has all the attributes you would want in a nurse. She is compassionate to the core. She is also quick-thinking, logical, witty, optimistic, funny, professional and extremely engaging. Her new venture - to care for patients Post Operatively in those important first days and weeks of recovery - is inspired. Were I in need of Post Operative support I could think of no-one I would rather see at home than Portia."

"Portia Gibson is fantastic nurse as well as an experienced senior practice educator. I have worked with her for the last 10 years in Worthing Emergency Department where she has been an essential senior member of the nursing team. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Portia and would recommend her skills and wonderful nature as a nurse. She is experienced and knowledgeable in her craft and more than competent to manage any clinical situation that should arise. I highly recommend Portia as she is very much more than just a postoperative care nurse"

"I was lucky enough to have Portia’s invaluable support when I was admitted to hospital in 2019 with severe sepsis and multi organ failure. On returning home, I had lost nearly a stone in weight and was feeling desperately weak, fatigued and utterly fed up. Portia’s positive energy, infectious personality and general way of being, brought me such joy. I always felt so much better after her visits. Portia is a true professional. She has a wealth of knowledge, decades of experience as a nurse and is also incredibly good at what she does. Her helpful advice, reassurance and ongoing support were absolutely key to my recovery. I would wholeheartedly recommend Portia to anyone who needs some extra care and support following a recent operation or hospital stay. She will, without doubt, help you to make the best recovery possible"
